Nøkkel (translating to, "key" in english) is a semi-firm white cheese with a spicy taste of cumin and cloves, and a slightly acidic aroma. The key cheese for Norvegia has a long tradition and has been produced in Norway since the 1860s, where the model was the two Dutch cheeses Leidenost and Nagel-kaas. Key cheese goes well as a topping, in salads, soups, cheese pies or Mexican dishes.
